Slowly the Volkswagen R32 will be forgotten because something new and better is coming. Presented on Frankfurt motor show Volkswagen made a very good impression. Equipped with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine, it’s a little bit smaller than Volkswagen’s R32 3.6 liters V6 engine, but outputs a higher power.
From 15 kW has increased to 199 kW and with this the torque has increased too, from 30 Nm at 350 Nm, which stays with you from 2500 rpm to 3500 rpm. Comparing the performance of the two cars, Volkswagen Golf R goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds which means Golf R is faster with one second compared with Volkswagen R32.
Volkswagen Golf R also has a pretty cool feature, you can change steering modes, you have three choices (comfort, normal and sport), but if I have to guess I’ll say that almost all owners will use the sport slot. Let’s say a few words about fuel consumption, Volkswagen Golf R consumes 8.5L at 100km, it very good compared with 10.7L of the Golf R32. That was possible thanks to the smaller and lighter turbo boosted engine.
