If you were to visit each dealership in your general area right now, which would be most likely to snag you as a buyer?
This is the question that Pied Piper Management Co. set out to answer with a big survey involving some 5.000 mystery shoppers.
The results placed Mercedes-Benz dealerships most likely to make a sale on a car, with Infiniti and Lexus coming in just behind. While no survey can be large enough for a precise result, some patterns can emerge displaying current trends.
As a general rule, dealerships try to convince the buyer by offering a test drive or by getting him to the negotiating table, but other tactics were applied as well. For example Jaguar, Volvo and Audi salespeople would try to discuss the unique features that come with their products, while brands like Infiniti, Land Rover and Smart would get you to go on a vehicle walk-around.
This is the seventh year that this survey is held, and while Mercedes-Benz came in first, other brands weren’t so lucky, like Scion, Mitsubishi or Mazda, who came out at the end of the list.
