When in traffic and you meet a smoke spewing, rusted hunk of metal you usually think “what a piece of junk”.

But there is a certain trend that involves car owners actually working at keeping their cars running while looking like they are about to fall apart.

Called Rat Rides, these tetanus riddled cars have a weird attraction, and the Rat Rod that is this 1947 Chevy Pickup is a prime example. The owner fitted the truck with a 1996 Ford Power Stroke diesel engine, giving the hunk’o’junk 505 horses to play with.

Most of that power converts to torque, as the Chevy isn’t particularly fast, but then again, owning a Rat Ride isn’t about speed, it’s all about the retro, almost post apocalyptic look you vehicle has. Be it thanks to the many rust spots or dents, or the home made bits that seem a bit out of place, it all looks like a ton of fun to drive.
