The next-generation Kia Cee’d makes its debut at the 82nd edition of the Geneva Motor Show having a major task to complete, namely to continue the success of the first generation. Kia’s European team designed the new Cee’d while the Zilina plant in Slovakia will take care of the assembly and production.
The South Koreans from Kia decided to increase the dimensions to 4,31 meters in length and reduce the height by 10 mm to 1,47 meters.
Kia decided to offer a total of four engines starting with a 1.4-liter gasoline with 89 horses and a more powerful 1.6-liter unit with 128 horsepower.
On the other hand, the diesel range includes a 1.4-liter with 89hp and a 1.6-liter 126hp, quite identical performance figures but surely better fuel consumption numbers.
“Just as the original cee’d represented a major step forward for Kia in 2007, this second-generation model represents a further leap for the brand – both in terms of the capability and sophistication of the vehicle,” said Paul Philpott from Kia.
The most efficient diesel unit delivers a fuel economy of 3,7 liters/100 km when fitted with the EcoDynamics technology, CO2 emissions being also under 100 g/km.
