Mercedes officially announces a new recall, this time the concerned model is the new CLS550 sold in the United States.
According to the German car maker, the bonnet could open while driving due to insufficiently tightened bolts that hold the secondary latch striker of the hood.
Luckily, this issue caused no incidents and there are also a small number of units affected by this problem. To be more specific, only 23 vehicles manufactured from December 1, 2011 to December 13, 2011 are forced to visit a dealership for repairs.
“The reduced torque of the striker bolts might lead to a loosening of the bolts. If two of the four bolts securing the striker became loose, the secondary hood latch function would become ineffective,” says Mercedes-Benz.
If you are one of the customers in question, expect a letter from the company quite soon as the recall will take place next month.
