Nissan officially reveals the 2013 model year Leaf, the well-known electric vehicle which receives some significant improvements after two years on the market. Under the hood we find a new electric motor and new components which are significantly lighter.
To be more specific, the new powertrain is 80 kilograms lighter which, without doubt, improves the performance.
The luggage space is now increased by 10% to a total capacity of 370 liters.
The Japanese car maker promises that all these features will be available on the North American model as well. They also claim that the new Leaf will be produced locally at the Smyrna plant in Tennessee starting December.
Thanks to the new electric motor, the 2013 Nissan Leaf comes with a better driving range of 228 kilometers, new Hill Start Assist and Regenerative Brake Control systems but also with better pricing. The base 2013 Nissan Leaf starts at $40,100 (3,349,500 Yen).
