Toyota officially announced that the new generation Auris enters series production at the Burnaston plant in the United Kingdom. The Japanese car maker held a special ceremony to celebrate the beginning of production for the second generation of the hatchback.
Therefore, the new Auris hatchback and estate will join the existing models built at the British factory, namely the Avensis sedan and Tourer.
In order to make this possible, Toyota hired 800 new workers and invested more than £185 million to accommodate the assembly line for the new Auris.
“I’m delighted to be here again in Burnaston today to mark the start of production of the latest Auris,” says Toyota.
Another investment of £85 million in the supply chain was needed as well in order to start the series production. You can find all the important details on the 2013 Toyota Auris including UK pricing by reading our previous story of the Japanese model.
