The German folks at Mercedes decided to release full details and photos on the plug-in hybrid version of the new-generation S-Class.
Scheduled to debut in world premiere at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, the new S500 Plug-in Hybrid packs a 3.0-liter V6 powerplant and an electric motor for a total output of 435 horsepower and 480Nm of torque.
Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5,5 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h.
Even with these good performance figures, the hybrid powertrain is capable to return fuel economy figures of just 3 liters/100km or 78,4mpg US with CO2 emissions at 69 g/km.
The German luxury sedan is fitted with four driving modes, namely Hybrid, E-Mode, E-Save and Charge. You can travel up to 30 kilometers only on electricity if you want a zero-emission ride.
The new 2014 Mercedes S500 Plug-in Hybrid will go on sale in the beginning of 2014 with pricing to be released very soon.
