This year’s edition of the Chicago Auto Show proved to be the best opportunity for Ram to unveil the 2014 ProMaster, a van based on the well-known Fiat Ducato.
Offered in three wheelbase versions, namely 118in, 136in and 159in, the new Ram ProMaster is also available in two roof height variants.
The new ProMaster will be built in Mexico and is scheduled to go on sale later this year. Under the bonnet we find a 3.6-liter Pentastar unit producing 280 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. A more frugal 3.0-liter diesel engine with 174 horses and 295 lb-ft is also available in the range.
Other features of the new Ram ProMaster include dual sliding doors and even WiFi hotspot capabilities.
Compared to its European brother, the new Ram ProMaster seems to get more features and significantly more power under the hood. It remains to be seen if the pricing will be a competitive one in the segment.
