Skoda released official information on the 2014MY Rapid, the smaller brother of the well-known Octavia, which will go on sale next month. At the exterior, the new Rapid will feature some minor tweaks but most important, new xenon headlights able to improve the night drive.
Most important, the Czech company will provide a new powerplant, namely a 1.6-liter TDI unit offering 90 horsepower.
It can provide fuel economy figures as low as 3,9 liters/100km and 104 g/km CO emissions while equipped with the Green tec pack. This brings low-rolling resistance tires, brake energy regeneration and a start/stop system.
“With compact dimensions, the compact sedan convinces with excellent spaciousness and a lot of room for five passengers and their luggage,” says Skoda.
At the interior, the carmaker offers new upholstery, trim and a three-spoke steering wheel. A revised infotainment system is also there alongside new lava gray material for the dashboard on the higher-grade Active and Ambition models.
