Ever since its first built in 1992, the Subaru Impreza has represented a real Japanese benchmark in terms of technology, advanced mechanics and sheer performance under the hood. And the fact that the model is still a thing of the present, is the important award it received in Japan.
We are looking here at the 2016-2017 Car of the Year Japan, which annually gathers lots of cars from different manufacturers to receive the distinct award. And those who voted in its favor are the car`s fans, which were extremely impressed by the car`s new styling, interior as well as powertrain under the hood.
In fact, the Subaru Impreza is so famous overseas, that the carmaker decided to build the model for the first time in the United States. Once arriving on the market next year, it will have a starting price of $19,215 in the four-door sedan and $19,715 in the five-door hatchback.
And for that money, you get plethora of high-end features, like more space inside, leather interior, eight-inch infotainment system, adding the safety gizmos – EyeSight package with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, or pre-collision braking.
Under the hood, the 2017 Subaru Impreza packs a high-performance 2.0-liter flat-four engine with 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a five-speed manual transmission and a fuel-consumption of 28 mpg/city and 38 mpg/highway.
The new Subaru is built in the United States at the Subaru`s official plant in Indiana, where it also manufactures the Legacy and the Outback.
