The electric turbo Technology isn’t a stranger to Audi, which first equipped it on the RS5 TDI-e concept, back in 2014, and now, the same technology might be offered on the upcoming SQ7 SUV, which is based on the Audi Q7.
We are not sure how many electric turbos would Audi use for the SQ7, but leaked sources have declared that the technology would eventually fit under its hood.
We are talking about the same 4.2-liter TDI V8 unit, which would produce more than 900 Nm of torque, capable thus of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.5 seconds, at a topping of 300 km/h, figures that are really impressive.
Audi is just about to make an important step forward in the electric powertrain technology, the carmaker announcing that other new models would benefit the same technology. In an official press release, representative have stated that the electric turbo technology would completely eliminate the “turbo lag”, which would increase the car`s performance.
A true example is the Audi RS5 TDI Diesel, which uses an electric turbo that can boost the performance by up to 20 percent, taking just a quarter of a seconds to do that. More details with the upcoming 2016 Audi SQ7 will be announced at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, where the SUV is expected for an official debut.
