2016 Volkswagen Ameo Sedan Launched in India

View

Volkswagen has recently unveiled the 2016 Ameo Sedan ahead the 2016 Auto Expo in India, the model reaching local dealerships on the second half of the year.

As expected and not too fancy to look at, the 2016 Volkswagen Ameo was specifically built for the Indian market, the model standing on the company`s older PQ25 platform, the same one found on the previous Polo generation.

As we can depict from the photos below, the 2016 Ameo comes with a rakish design that does not stand-out from the crowd with any particular features.

The cabin brings a two-tone color, with pieces also seen on the older and cheaper Volkswagen models, but for an average Indian driver, the bunch of tweaks are just enough for a daily commute. We are looking here at dual front airbags, infotainment system with MirrorLink support, cruise control and a few more.

In the engine department, the 2016 Volkswagen Ameo comes with a 1.2-liter naturally-aspirated three-cylinder engine, hooked to a five-speed manual. A higher 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel is also available, this one mated to the same five-speed or an optional seven-speed DSG.

Prices in India will be announced at a later date, but we should expect a fair $7,500 for the entry-level model.
