The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is a mean machine, taking on the new Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger with a powerful engine under the hood and an impressive and more aerodynamic body style. But rumors are stating that the North American carmaker is not resting on its laurels and is already planning the Camaro ZL1 model, which will come as a 2018 year model.
Even if you know nothing about the future Camaro ZL1, a rendering with the model has recently popped-out on the web, being signed by TopSpeed online auto magazine. The rendering has got nothing to do with the upcoming ZL1, but perhaps the carmaker might get its design inspiration from it and build the model with a one-off design, just like the one seen here, wearing a more aggressive style.
On the other hand, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which develops 275 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, enough to reach 100 km/h under 6 seconds.
Apart the base entry –level unit, the new Camaro will also pack a higher 3.6-liter V6 unit, outputting 335 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque, hooked to an optional 8-speed automatic or the standard 6-speed manual transmission. Finally, the Camaro SS will be powered by a massive 6.2-liter V12, with 455 horsepower and 617 Nm of torque.
