In case you want to see America`s most impressive muscle cars and SUVs, then our advice is visit the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, which opens its gates in a couple of days. You will also have the opportunity of admiring the all-new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT, recently introduced to the online public ahead the show.
Speaking about the SUV`s impressive design and sheer performance under the hood, not to forget the plethora of advanced technical features, Tim Kuniskis, CEO at Dodge, has mentioned in a recent interview:
“The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is America`s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV. This is what you get when you take everything great about the Durango and combine it with the performance of the Charger SRT: a 12-second quarter mile, toy-hauling, three-row muscle car.”
Speaking about performance and sheer numbers, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT packs a massive 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, with a “modest” 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. And even it is not as powerful as the 707 HP Hellcat muscle car, it can still run the 0 to 100 km/h straight line in just 4.4 seconds, while the quarter mile is run, as aforementioned, in a mind-blowing 12.9 seconds.
There are a lot of fine mechanics that contribute to the SUV`s impressive performance. We are looking here at new cold-air intake, the company`s new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, adding as well the Sport Mode and Track Model, each one enabling the transmission to reduce shift times by 50 and 70 percent respectively. The SUV also uses other driving modes, such as Snow, Tow, Valet and ECO, the latter one helping the model consume less.
Dodge has also fitted the all-new 2018 Durango SRT with the new and high-performance Bilstein adaptive damping suspension with stiffer front springs and rear springs, rear sway bar, six-piston Brembo front calipers and four-piston rear calipers fitted behind the massive wheels and so forth.
As for the car`s visuals, the 2018 Durango SRT can be had with a wide choice of exterior colours, including Ocean Blue Clear Coat, Vice White or Sangria Metallica Clear Coat. The cabin also features a 7.0-inch gauge cluster as well as an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SiriusXM.
