Ford believed it would have to wait too long for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show to unveil the all-new 2018 Fiesta ST and decided to do it earlier, the model in question popping up in fresh details concerning the exterior and interior features, as well as the powertrain under the hood.
From the start, we are looking here at an extremely potent model, the new Fiesta ST coming with a brand-new 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol burner with 197 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. This translates in a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, with 0.2 seconds faster than the ongoing model.
More than that, according to Ford, the Fiesta ST`s engine also comes with the first-cylinder deactivation system for a three-cylinder engine, meanign less fuel-consumption and extremely low CO2 emissions – to almost 114 g/km. Also, the system shuts down and opens up one cylinder in 14 milliseconds, which is fast.
The 2018 Ford Fiesta ST also comes with three driving modes – Normal, Sport and Track – allowing the driver to control the engine, steering and stability the way he wants it.
As for the car`s aesthetics, we are looking here at a 3- and a 5-door body style, coming with slight exterio changes compared to the ongoing model, adding however plenty of other high-end features inside – Recaro sports seats, flat-bottomed steering, decorative dashboard spear, trims for the gear level, door pulls and so on.
Technology is another key factor for the new Fiesta ST, as it incorporates the latest gadgetries – SYNC 3 infotainment system in the center of the dashboard, featuring an eight-inch display with punch and swipe gestures, voice commands, smartphone connectivity and navigation system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, B&O Play Sound System and so on.
