Ford has recently sent at work the convertible version of the all-new 2018 Mustang, the model promising to offer a fresh styling and outstanding performance. The test mule was recently caught on shots by spy photographs, the model wearing camouflage around the body, mainly on the front and rear end as well.
Even if the camo offers little details about its future looks, it is pretty obvious where the changes would occur. Since we are dealing with a facelift, the model is set to tweak new headlights, adding new changes at the bumpers.
The most noticeable modding would occur around the lower section of the front bumper, now adding an “A-wing” aspect for the front splitter. Other slight changes are likely to be made, making the model more outstanding and also much larger than the present generation.
The car`s main highlight remains in the technical area, the 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible now featuring the high-performance ten-speed automatic gearbox which is co-developed by GM and Ford and available on higher-end versions, and which is the same seen on the 2016 Camaro ZL1. Besides the ten-speeder, the entry-level trims will remain equipped with the standard six-speed automatic.
As for the engine lineup, the carmaker is still undecided whether to keep the current lineup or add up some upgrades. Reports and recent rumors suggest keeping the current, which proves to be highly-efficient in terms of performance.
We might thus expect a wide range of EcoBoost engines with a V6 and a V8 assortment. Amongst the most important ones we should mention the V6 with 300 horsepower, the EcoBoost V6 with 310 horsepower, and do on.
The facelift version is likely to arrive in 2017 as the 2018 MY, closely followed by the Mustang Shelby GT500 top of the line muscle car.
