2020 Mercedes-GLA Caught on First Shots

View

Mercedes-Benz crossover segment is about to receive a new member in the shape of the 2020 GLA, the model being recently seen while performing some snowy testing. This comes just after the carmaker has also introduced the first-gen GLA at the 2017 NAIAS, in Detroit.

We are looking here at a second generation set to come out in around three years, the test mule seen here wearing full camouflage, which indicates lots of aesthetic changes.

Once arriving on the market, the all-new 2020 Mercedes GLA will stand on the company`s new Modular Front Architecture, or simply put, MFA2, the same one also underpinning other new models. This means that it will use lots of lightweight materials, like aluminum and high-strength steel.

Inside, the new architecture will also make more room for rear passengers and their luggage, while the gadgetries will once again prove to be the high-tech as expected. Let`s not forget to cozy feel given by the new high-quality materials.

The same architecture will allow the fitting of new engines, both petrol and diesels, with the entry-level versions coming with front-wheel drive. The top of the line variants will feature all-wheel drive and sheer performance.

Amongst the top mills, we should mention the GLA45 with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol burner, squeezing out more than 400 horsepower. Also, a less high-performance engine in the shape of a three-cylinder V6 will join the lineup, with around 300 horsepower.

We should see the sec-gen Mercedes GLA at work in Europe`s dealerships somewhere in 2019, while the US will have it later on, as a 2020 MY.
