ABT Sportsline just got down to doing what they love most, tweaking products of the Volkswagen Group. The newest model they played with is the Audi A1 Sportback.

The little hatchback, for all its luxury offerings, didn’t seem to please the German tuner as they found several areas they could improve upon. More importantly, after figuring them out, they went on to do the appropriate fixes.

As usual, the offerings include a new styling package and some performance upgrades for the entire engine range. No new toys were added though.

Not that we’re praising slacking off but ABT Sportsline probably did a good job in not messing with Audi’s excellent interior quality, even if this is the baby of the range.

ABT offer their familiar range of 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels, with a gunmetal finish and new tires to suit them.

Cosmetic tweaks to the exterior come in the form of new front lips, rear bumper inserts, a new, and obviously larger rear spoiler and vents for the front fenders.

These aren’t the most substantiated changes ever to be fitted to a car and the chromed exhaust tips certainly don’t help the case but the overall effect is actually noticeable.

In the engine bay, the 1.2 liter TFSI four pot is pumped up to 110 horsepower and the 1.4 liter TFSI can now be ordered with 160 or 210 horsepower.

Meanwhile, in the diesel camp, the 1.6 liter TDI powerplant gets a notch up to 125 horsepower whereas the big 2.0 liter can be tuned up to 170 hp.

Not bad I’d say, in a car this small, that sort of power makes for some pretty reasonable performance.
