The Germans from Audi introduced a new electric model at this year’s edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show, this time based on the A3 Sportback five-door hatchback model. The new Audi A3 e-tron electric model is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor able to deliver 82 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque.
It uses a single-speed transmission to transfer all the power to the front wheels. Audi A3 e-tron can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11,2 seconds and hits a top speed of 145 km/h.
The German model uses a 26.5 kWh lithium-ion battery able to provide a driving range of 140 kilometers while it needs around nine hours for a complete recharge at a 230V socket.
The driver could choose between three different operating modes (auto, efficiency and dynamic), the latter being the sportier one which will reduce the driving range. Audi also claims that the new A3 e-tron can produce a peak output of 114 horsepower, an interesting feature mainly considering that we talk about a fully electric model.
