The Germans from Audi announced their production plans for the year to come, plans which also include the Audi R8 e-Tron, a model which will be manufactured in a limited series. The fully electric R8 e-Tron is not the only novelty for 2012 as Audi will start producing the next generation of the A3 sedan along the A6 quattro but also the Audi A8 hybrid.
In order to achieve these goals, Audi wants to hire another 1,200 workers next year and to invest around €13 billion. This big investment will help the company to expand the models range but also to increase the production of the current facilities.
To be more precise, the €13 billion investment will be the biggest ever of the German company and will take place gradually from 2012 to 2016.
Thomas Sigi, Member of the Board of Management at Audi commented: “We are aiming to achieve strong growth on an international scale and boost our lightweight construction and electric mobility areas of expertise in particular.”
As mentioned above, a good amount of money will be spent on new models development, around €10 billion from the total being secured for this purpose.
