It’s been a while since we lastly talked about the Audi S5 Cabriolet, especially about a tuning kit dedicated to the convertible version of the German manufacturer. Even so, the American specialists from STaSIS engineering released details on their newest tuning package which offers both aesthetic and performance upgrades.
Called Challenge Edition, the tuning package comes with a black finish at the exterior alongside a red hood and stripes on the sides but also with a new set of 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with low profile tires. If the visual improvements will not really impress you, STaSIS engineering offers some performance upgrades in addition as well.
Under the bonnet, the German model packs a revised 3.0-liter supercharged unit which delivers significantly more power over the standard version. To be more precise, the North American tuner managed to squeeze extra 77 horsepower over the standard output. Therefore, the STaSIS Audi S5 Cabriolet develops 410 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
If the stock model is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds, the Challenge Edition package manages to improve the time by 0,7 seconds while the top speed of the model remains unaltered. In order to achieve these performance figures, the Americans from STaSIS Engineering fitted the German model with a new high performance exhaust system alongside a reworked ECU unit.
Moreover, STaSIS Engineering decided to enhance the handling by adding Ohlins SL dampers able to provide both a more comfortable ride and a harsher reaction. The revised suspension system can also adjust the ride height letting you properly set in accordance with your needs.
If we make the calculations, we will see that the performance upgrade available for the S5 Cabriolet will provide a 23% increase over the standard version. Therefore, the American specialists decided to improve the braking as well by offering a high performance Alcon 6-piston system with monobloc calipers and 370mm front discs. Other features of the Challenge Edition package include a limited-slip differential and laser engraved tips for the quad-pipe T304 stainless steel exhaust system. Until now, STaSIS Engineering released no pricing or availability details on the new Audi S5 Cabriolet tuning program.
