The famous Volkswagen Golf GTI has recently turned 40, with an extraordinary history on the market, and the carmaker is planning to celebrate the event by launching a special edition in Australia.
The special edition is called the VW Golf GTI 40 Years and will be available in Australia in a limited number of units, with prices to start from $46,990 for the manual and $48,990 for the DSG automatic transmission.
The model stands out from the crowd with a number of interesting goodies, both visually and mechanically. We are dealing here with the one-off 19-inch alloy wheels, along with an overall sporty body styling with a much prominent front intake system and two-piece rear spoiler.
In terms of mechanics, the Volkswagen Golf GTI 40 Years also features the high-performance organ-wrenching brakes, chassis control, adaptive suspension and the same front-wheel drive for improved traction.
Underneath the hood, the Volkswagen Golf GTI 40 Years is packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four cylinder, the same one found on the present GTI, developing an exquisite 213 kW and 380 Nm of torque.
As aforementioned, the model can be had with a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission, the latter one being already available for order on the hot continent.
