Whenever you think of the land down under, you probably think of a vast desert and creatures of all shapes and sizes that can kill you within seconds.

So the Australian outback can be either a nightmare or a dream come true. And the people who think of it as the latter usually drive a sand buggy.

The buggy of choice for the australians is the Barracuda, the baby of Edge Products company. It is the result of more than 17 years of experience in delivering off road pleasure to the enthusiast.

But before you go on driving over a dune, some assembly is required. You can either buy it as a kit or if you fancy making stuff as much as using them, you can just buy the plans online (a full 250 pages) that will tell you how to build one. It comes with 3D images, step-by-step instructions and an extensive list of materials.

For the engine, you can use pretty much anything with a chain drive, which goes to the rear wheels. So if you are ready to dish out around $7.500 (engine not included) and apply some elbow grease, you can be the happiest man or woman in the middle of a desert.
