When we talk about drag racing, we usually think about slick, slender vehicles, with massive rear wheels, low weight and many horses under the hood.
Now, when we speak about a Bentley Continental GT, we don’t exactly picture it as a dragster, mainly because it weighs as much as my neighbor’s house.
And yet, one such beast was entered in the drag racing event at the Santa Pod Raceway, which takes place this weekend. Looking at it, nothing seems out of place, except for the new, massive wheels, but the rest of the exterior is pretty much stock.
The one thing that allows the Bentley Continental GT to be a good bet in a drag race is the engine that was installed under the hood. Displacing a whooping 10.2 liter, the Chevrolet based V8 engine, coupled with two big turbochargers is able to deliver an astounding 3.000 Hp. Incidentally, that is more than enough to also move my neighbor’s house. So we wish good luck to the 48 years old owner and his monster Continental GT.
