The Germans from BMW announced their plans to introduce the all-wheel drive system, better known as xDrive, on certain models bearing the 1 Series badge.
To be more precise, the company will offer both three- and five-door 1 Series models with the all-wheel drive system, all starting from November this year.
Moreover, the engine range of the 1 Series is extended thanks to a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol unit which will be found under the hood of the BMW 114i.
The unit in question is able to deliver 101 horsepower and 180Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 11,2 seconds and a top speed of 195 km/h.
The model is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and returns fuel economy figures of 5,5 liters/100 km (42,7mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 129 g/km.
“The BMW EfficientDynamics technology package also includes the ECO PRO mode, which can be activated via the Driving Experience Control button that is standard on all models,” claims BMW. Additional details and pricing for the 1 Series xDrive will be released soon.
