As you may have already heard, the beloved 3 series of BMW – coupe models to be more precise – are expected to change their name into 4 series. In the same way, what we expected to be an M3 coupe will be a BMW M4 coupe!
What is it will all this change, you are wondering? For starters, believe it or not, BMW is trying to make its cars a lot lighter than what we all got used to, with less accent on power. Lightness was, indeed, one of the things that missed most to the last coupe.
Apart from the name, BMW is also leaving behind the naturally aspired engine in the exchange of a turbocharged one. According to Matt Collins, project manager of BMW’s UK division, people will have to just deal with all these changes!
The BMW M4 will get a different motoring and will put a major accent on lightweight, the use of materials determining improved delivered performance and making it “as good as it can possibly be”, to quote Collins.
If you were wondering what will it happen with the beloved BMW M3, officials admit that the change of name is something huge, therefore they have no intention whatsoever to hurry its retirement, looking to set in when the right time will come.
