The Bavarians are pretty keen on their electric range, the i fellowship but good as they may be, they still suffer from the same real world problems.
This is why BMW is currently considering adding some range extender devices to the i3 and whatever other pipeline products.
We already know about the i8 and what BMW has in plan for what they once called the Vision Efficient Dynamics but what about the rest of the lineup?
At the moment, BMW’s i range only includes the i8 and the i3. Since the i8 already has a 1.5 liter three cylinder engine range extender, why not add it to the smaller brethren?
Sounds like a plan, the only problem is that the current design of the BMW i3 is mid engined with rear wheel drive, adding a range extender could create quite the packaging problem.
Apparently, while BMW does have a bit of a worry moment about the ranges their i products will achieve, they still have sufficient time to think about other electric plans.
The news even mentions the drivetrain that’s been used in the BMW 7 Series AcriveHybrid being shift over to one of their i range products.
