After a very stressful year of rivalry amongst premium vehicles’ manufacturers, BMW regained its position as the most selling premium car brand in 2024. The Bavarian manufacturer can therefore attribute this to hard work and the flexibility that is required in a world market. At a global level, BMW has managed to sell over 2.2 million new cars, and the sale indicates BMW’s dominance over its competitors in the global luxury car market.
Diversity and punitiveness of the offered models allow the Bavarian brand to withstand competition and maintain its supremacy in sales; starting from the elegant sedans and ending up with powerful off-road vehicles and SUVs, the consumers will always be provided with a wide choice to fulfill their potential and satisfy their needs. Furthermore, BMW has also managed to reinvent its image by integrating sustainable and environmentally friendly technology in its products. This policy has proven popular with consumers and helped BMW outstrip its key competitors in terms of outright sales.
Mercedes-Benz is the first contender to BMW, which sold around 1,98 million new automobiles throughout the world, down by 3% for the same markets compared to the same time one year before. Besides this small failure, Mercedes-Benz still continues to be one of the major players in the market of premium cars and still builds and sells luxurious as well as very efficient automobiles that have won the hearts of millions of admirers all around the globe.
Completing the top three is Audi, the third Germany’s premium car maker. New car sales in the Ingolstadt-based brand were 1,67 mln, or 11.8% less than in the previous year. Even though Audi has had issues with maintaining its market share, the company still comes under the category of selling beautiful cars.
The sales report for 2024 also showed the importance of electric cars in the automotive industry, in which BMW has a clear lead in the fast growing segment. The car manufacturer from Bavaria was able to sell 368k electric cars, which was indeed a noteworthy 11.6 percent more than the same period of the prior year. Such phenomenal growth is expected from the escalating need for environmentally friendly vehicles and BMW’s successful blend with contemporary technology in electric automotive.
Albeit not nearly as much, Mercedes-Benz suffered a 23% sales drop in electric vehicles and sold 185,100 units of these cars. Audi sold electric cars 8% less than the previous year, and it delivered 164,000 electric cars. Such numbers stress the importance of manufacturers positioning themselves and investing in electric ad hybrids to resolve the rising environmental standards from the side of consumers and to remain competitive on the global market.
Thus, BMW’s capability to retain its dominance as the leading premium brand in 2024 is indeed a testament to its commitment. This means that as the automotive industry becomes more environmentally conscious, every vehicle manufacturer that has started including these aspects in their products is likely to reap big in the following years.
This 2024 sales report has positioned BMW as the market leader in the sale of premium cars globally, and it opens up the possibility to its competitors that they can only struggle to keep up in the complicated market landscape. Thanks to the greater rivalry in sales and the introduction of new state of art technologies into the global markets, the fight for the title of the best selling premium brand of cars is not expected to stop with BMW on the frontlines.
