It seems that Bugatti is going to do the same thing to the Galibier they did back when they were coming up with the Veyron.

Even though the company technically green lit the production of the Galibier and eventually ended up announcing a Royale name, it’s no longer happening.

The reason behind this special decision is one that actually pleases me, the hardcore fanatic petrolhead, because Bugatti’s CEO decided there’s more to be done.

Apparently, the motif behind the decision to stop production on the Galibier is that as a car, a luxury super sports sedan, as great as it is, it’s not good enough.

We don’t really know what it means but if Bugatti’s new CEO Wolfgang Durheimer wants the production version of the Galibier to be the be all and end all of all the arguments that billionaire petrolheads may have, that’s a good thing.

Also, considering how the car was already bound to use the Veyron’s engine but in a less strung shape that developed just 800 horsepower you can imagine the new parameters laid out for the car are now astonishing.

After all, having a 1000 or so horsepower at your disposal is just what you need when taking your family for a trip across, well, continents.

That, together with undeniable quality and luxury is what the package of the Bugatti Galibier should be and if there’s any compromise on the production version, it’s better that we wait for it to happen.
