Chevrolet decided to take advantage of the Chicago Auto Show and present their diesel version of the current-generation Cruze, namely the Clean Turbo Diesel.
The new model is priced from $25,695 and benefits from a 2.0-liter turbodiesel offering 148hp and 350Nm of torque. According to General Motors, it is the cleanest passenger car diesel ever produced by the carmaker.
Even the model provides good fuel economy figures of 42mpg US or 5,6lt/100km (highway), it is still able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,6 seconds.
The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel will be built at the Lordstown plant, Ohio, General Motors claiming that it is able to offer segment-leading efficiency. They also say that clean diesel engines return up to 90% less Nitrogen Oxide.
In order to maximize efficiency, Chevrolet provides low-rolling resistance tires, an aero performance package and other tweaks.
