With China becoming the world`s largest car market, a lot of carmakers have turned their attention towards building up special cars to increase their profitability. From Mercedes-Benz comes the China-only A-Class L Sedan, a stretched version of Europe`s 2019 A-Class hatchback.
Speaking of the car`s arrival in China with an extended variant, Hubertus Troska, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AF, have stated that the Chinese customers really need to drive a premium compact car, with plenty of power and advanced handling capabilities.
“This long wheelbase version offers added space, with a rear compartment dedicated to meeting local preferences. And given our customers in China are young and connected, our new, intuitive MBUX telematics system gives them a highly individualized digital experience. With these highlight features and more, the A-Class L Sedan is an excellent choice for our Chinese customers. We believe it will promote our further growth as out fifth model produced locally at BBAC, and we will build in China, for China together with our partner BAIC”, Troska also said.
The model comes with an extended wheelbase of around 6 cm, coming as well with increase space inside and two powerful engines under the hood. We are dealing here with a new 1.33-liter petrol burner and a soon to be added 2.0-liter flat-four cylinder with CONICSHAPE trumpet honing and CAMTRONIC variable valve timing.
From a visual perspective, the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class L Sedan borrows the same design lines as its European counterpart, however, it does come with some pieces of its own at the rear. It sports a two-piece tail-lights and new bumper. As for the wheels, the model is offered with a choice of 16- to 19-inch rims.
The interior is also alike, featuring the new MBUX infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and so forth. Technology meets luxury with the new and high-quality materials and leather upholstery, along with different trims surrounding the whole cabin.
