One look at the new project from BASF and ding3000, and you will immediately think back to the beginnings of the bike.
But while the huge front wheel might feel a bit retro, the Concept 1865 is quite the high tech machine.
It sports a 250W motor that assists the rider with pedaling, while also taking care of the lighting on the e-bike. The battery pack powering the motor is housed in the seat, and the whole assembly can be easily detached for recharging and as an increased safety measure.
The seat and tires on the Concept 1865 are optimized to absorb the shocks of an uneven terrain. In order to achieve this, E-TPU (expanded thermoplastic polyurethane) was used in the build. While the end result does a pretty good job of combining the old design with new technology, I still have trouble seeing many people riding on these. This is the stuff hipsters dream of.
