With real and feasible autonomous vehicles becoming more and more a possibility, the ideas on how to best use those cars start pouring in.
Not all ideas are good ones, but that is what concepts are for: to test out an idea and see if it sticks with the public.
One recent such concept was presented by Dominic Wilcox at this year’s London Design Festival. He calls it a Stained Glass Driverless Sleeper Car, and in a few words, it’s basically a bed on wheel. A weird bed at that. You just have to call the car to you, get in and get a nap in before it reaches its destination.
The idea of a sleeper car is not a bad one at all, but I am not sure I would have gone with this design. First off, a stained glass car doesn’t seem like the ideal place to sleep. Not to mention it feels a bit too much like a church. But weird or not, we should encourage more ideas like this one, because you never know when something really good will come along.
