Recently, Dodge held an investors and press event if order to discuss some business and where the company is going from here.
While detailing their plans of dropping two models, namely the Avenger and the Grand Caravan, Dodge officials thought to explain it by ripping on Volkswagen.
Their exact words were “No kid ever grew up with a poster of a Passat on his bedroom wall”, a line that is reminiscent of an older advertisement Dodge used. While we can easily replace that Passat with a plethora of vehicles, both bland and under-powered, it was funny to see the American car maker stick to the old joke.
And they do have point. I mean, children who like cars so much that they hang a poster on the wall, will usually go for a Lamborghini or Ferrari, or a muscle car (this is where Dodge comes in), not a diesel sedan that is best known for its fuel efficiency. Let’s just hope that this will (not) turn into the kind of rivalry a few other car makers already share.
