What, you thought all of the cars get recalls and that people in the automotive industry make all the mistakes so there’s none left over for the bikes?
Well, that’s not the case and it’s once again a company from Italy that we get to point our fingers at given the situation.
The guys at Ducati have gotten themselves some extra work as their 1199 Panigale superbike is headed for some recalls.
The total number of recalls is five and that’s not something that happens often. Especially not to the same sort of machine.
Ducati’s 1199 Panigale seems to have a bit of an issue with the exhaust, one with the front brake and and one with the rear swingarm.
The remaining two problems are even worse as they’re related to the steering. Now, normally, problems that lead recalls on cars can be dangerous.
With bikes, particularly in these case it seems like there’s a serious chance of death happening never mind injuries or incidents.
Starting with the simplest thing, the heat from the catalytic converter could burn up a cable cover and eventually smoke could be coming out from under your backside.
That’s the good case, the bad case is that the front brake cable is damaged and you lose braking. The same situation could see swingarm shaft could become loose and your pretty Ducati 1199 Panigale would start shaking.
So far it’s not a good list of points to go through but the steering problems are independent. Due to some improper fitting we’re looking at a bearing or steering head getting loose.
According to the NHTSA 2411 bikes will need to be recalled because of this problem but a date for this recall is yet to be set.
