Porsche has been dealing with the development of the Leipzig plant for more than two years now, with huge investments from the German supercar manufacturer.
We are talking about 500 million euros to be invested in the plant`s construction and expansion.
Now, with the plant being opened on February 11, the Porsche`s aim is to increase the production of the Macan version for the years to come.
Thus, improvements have been made to the plant, including a paint and new body shop, as well as an assembly line that are pushing Porsche forward towards its plans of selling 50,000 units each year.
With the new expanded plant, the new Macan model is expected to exceed 200,000 units sold ahead for the next three years, with more unit production, in case there is enough demand.
“We are totally convinced in the qualities of this location and that the Macan will be a marketing success,” Mathias Muller, the Chairman at Porsche, stated in an interview at the plant opening.
The Macan will be launched in the US starting this summer with prices from $49,900.
