It seems that the waiting comes to an end as we were provided with some official photos of the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, a model scheduled to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The people from Cheers & Gears were the first to get this set of photos, images which are undoubtedly from the official gallery but somehow leaked into the web.
Sadly, these photos bring no new details about the Italian model but however they show important design features. It is still a mystery if the new 458 Italia Spider will feature a retractable hardtop or not but according to the latest rumors, most probably it will.
Under the bonnet, the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider is most likely to sport a 4.5-liter V8 unit, currently available on the 458 Italia coupe. If this information is correct, the V8 engine featuring direct injection technology will offer 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.
Even this information is completely accurate or not, the Italian model will surely adopt the seven-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox directing the power to the rear axle.
