Fiat workers in the six Italian plants will come into technical unemployment between February 22 and March 7 because of weaker orders from the beginning of this year.
Fiat Group has announced that will stop the production of all its plants in Italy for two weeks since February 22 due to reduced orders. All the 30,000 employees of these plants will be sent to technical unemployment for half a month.
After the positive end of 2009, orders from Italy fell to a level lower than in January 2009, when the market is in serious crisis, shows the communication group. In conditions which Italians provide for the continuation of this trend in the coming months, it is necessary to align production level to orders level. This measure will affect the six plants that Fiat Group have in Italy, the employees will receive during this period 80% of salary, the amounts will be transferred to them following a fund financed by social shares or directly by the Italian State.
