Valentino park in Torino was the place of the official launch of the new engine developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies. We are talking about Fiat 500’s TwinAir two-cylinder engine, presented for the first time at Geneva Auto Show, in 2010. The CO2 emissions are stopped at a 43% lower level comparing to similar engines, more exactly at 95g/km. The fuel consumption is also stopped at 4.1 l/100 km.
The engines has just two-cylinder and a displacement of 875cc. The turbo system boost the horsepower at 85hp and a torque of 145Nm. The ECO button will be a standard option for the Fiat 500 TwinAir 85 hp version. This button will improve the fuel consumption offering Normal and Eco driving options.
Thanks to the new engine, Fiat 500 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds while the top speed is 173 km/h. Start/stop system will be also available in order to reduce the fuel consumption by 12%. The engine will be matted to a manual transmission.
