The new Volkswagen Passat sedan for the US market has been revealed in the first day of the Detroit Auto Show. The German model received few changes compared to the European version, its dimensions being increased by 10 cm in lenght. The interior gets also few modifications together with the revised front grille and new taillights.
The new Volkswagen Passat will be produced at Tennessee, US and its priced is rumored to be around $20,000. The US version of Passat will provide an entry-level version able todevelop 170 horsepower thanks to the 2.5-liter petrol engine. This entry-level version is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,2 seconds while you can choose between a manual or automatic transmission.
A TDI diesel engine is available too, a 2.0-liter propeller more exactly, able to develop 140 horsepower and to sprint to 100 km/h in 9,3 seconds. The TDI engine benefits from the common-rail system and offers a fuel consumption of about 5,4 l/100km. A more potent petrol engine is available too, we talk about a 3.6-liter engine which delivers 278 horsepower and sprints in just 6,2 seconds.
