Ford issued an official press release saying that the new Ford Fiesta ST, the sportier variant of the well-known hatchback model received a good amount of orders since its debut in March.
To be more specific, the European-spec model gathered more than 3,000 orders in Europe. In the States, Ford will sell the new model in the five-door configuration only starting this summer with pricing from $22,195 including the $795 destination fee.
Power for the new Fiesta ST is provided by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine producing 179 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft of torque.
Ford also says that more than 60% of the customers opted for the range-topping variant which is about $4,000 more expensive and brings several goods such as bucket seats, leather upholstery and larger alloys.
“Customers in the U.K. have bought more than half of all models sold to date, with Germany placing the next largest number of orders, followed by Switzerland,” adds Ford.
