Despite having plenty of advantages, working with aluminium is quite the challenge, as the metal is quite stubborn, and Ford found that out the hard way.
It seems that the 2015 Ford F-150, which will be sporting the lightweight material on the body panels, has encountered some problems.
Reports indicate that aluminium shipments needed for the F-150 have failed to meet specifications, and the car maker has yet to master the crafting of the metal. This mistake alone is said to push the release date three months back, and Ford is riding the supplier hard to correct it.
Hopefully, there won’t be any more incidents and we can get to see the truck as soon as possible. So far, not much is known about the model, but one tidbit of info did slip from the American manufacturer. Opting for the aluminium will make the new 2015 Ford F-150 317 kg lighter than its predecessor, which can only be a good thing.
