The Americans from Focus are currently working on an optimized version of the current Focus, a model that bears the ECOnetic badge and promises good performance alongside impressive efficiency. The new Focus ECOnetic is scheduled to debut in the first months of 2012 and promises a fuel consumption of just 3,5 liters/100 km, actually even lower according to the press release!

Alongside the good average fuel consumption, the American model will issue just 95 g/km of CO2, the 1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi engine being responsible for this.

Developing 104 horsepower, the diesel unit will also benefit from a new air cooling system, high performance fuel injectors and also a revised turbocharger. In order to improve the efficiency, additional systems such as the regenerative braking and the start/stop will do the job and reduce the fuel consumption.

The aerodynamics play a very important role, thus, the Americans from Ford fitted the ECOnetic version with low-rolling resistance tires, an active grille shutter which adjusts according to every situation but also a flat underbody, all these assuring a low drag coefficient.
