The European department of Opel proudly announced that a model in the range, more exactly Meriva, received the Golden Steering Wheel award this year while last year Opel Astra won this competition. However, Opel won the Golden Steering Wheel award 14 times since the brand started to participate at this contest.
Other evidences that the Russelsheim-based model it’s a successful vehicle consist in the sales amount and positive feedback received by the model, Opel announcing over 80,000 units sold since now and counting.
The ceremony was held at Berlin Axel-Springer Haus where the Opel’s Executive stated that this award tells us the quality and the reliability of the Opel’s vehicles. Talking about Opel Meriva, the model is predisposed to awards as three big names in the automotive world awarded the model with a design, innovation and technology prizes. Opel Meriva is also battling in the Car of the Year competition, the model being present in the last seven models remained.
