Initially revealed as a concept model at the New York Auto Show in 2007, Hyundai Genesis entered production in 2008 at the Ulsan plant in South Korea aiming to conquer the luxury car segment. The model is offered only as a four-door sedan and is known as Hyundai Rohens in China.
In terms of dimensions, the South Korean model is 2,9 meters long, 1,8 meters wide and has a height of 1,4 meters. Under the bonnet, the Genesis benefits from two Lambda V6 units with displacements ranging from 3.3 to 3.8-liters but also a more powerful 4.6-liter V8 offering 375 horsepower and 451 Nm of torque.
The V8 engine is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,3 seconds when coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Hyundai Genesis does very well in terms of safety as the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the model with the Top Safety Pick.
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) also tested the model giving it the maximum score. In terms of features, the standard Genesis benefits from dual-zone automatic air conditioning, leather upholstery for seats and steering wheel, cruise control, automatic headlights but also power windows.
