The crossover and SUV segment of the car market has been on a steady rise these past few years.
And just as with many other trends, the car makers all try to get their piece of the profits. Even manufacturers like Caterham are throwing in their gauntlet.
Hyundai is not one to be upstaged by the rest of the industry, so in a media event John Krafcik, Hyundai America’s CEO, hinted at a new compact crossover. Finding the market ripe for picking, John Krafcik let it slip that the way to gather the biggest profit is by building a new compact crossover just below their Hyundai Tucson.
“We lead the industry in sedans. We have a bunch of them, but if you look at our crossover line, we have two nameplates, the Tucson and the Santa Fe” he went on to say, outlining the obvious next move. While we can safely say that this said trend does seem to manifest heavily, only the future will tell if this truly is the best move for Hyundai.
