The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) picked the 2013 Nissan Altima as the safest model thanks to its very good scores obtained at one of the most stringent tests.
The Japanese model already received the most coveted five-star rating from NHTSA, IIHS’ pick coming as a new confirmation that the Altima is a very safe car.
The Japanese sedan managed to score very well at all the categories including front, side and rollover crash tests.
“Driver and passenger safety are top priorities for Nissan, which is why we make features like Safety Shield technologies available,” says IIHS.
Therefore, the Altima receives the “Top Safety Pick Plus” award from IIHS, adding that this prize shows the hard work put by engineers in this model.
The Japanese car maker also announced few days ago that they managed to sell no less than 4 million units in the United States. The model entered the U.S. market back in 1992.
