On September 13, the British people from Jaguar will unveil in front of the public a new concept called C-X16, a prototype which will be the base for a future production model situated somewhere under the current XK. As expected, the British concept packs a hybrid powertrain which consists of a 3.0-liter supercharged petrol unit offering 380 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque and an electric motor which acts like a generator.
According to the manufacturer, the electric motor is packed together with the eight-speed automatic gearbox which directs the power to the rear axle.
In terms of dimensions, the new concept is 4,4 meters long, 2,0 meters wide and has a wheelbase of 2,6 meters. The Jaguar C-X16 has a total mass of 1,600 kilograms which enables the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and achieve top speed of 299 km/h.
There is also the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) which provides extra power for acceleration by using a button on the steering wheel. The additional power comes from the electric motor which normally is used as a generator.
