It seems all the big car makers are diversifying their car line-up, trying to cover as many segments as they possibly can.
To keep with the trend, Jaguar will start selling their very own SUV come 2015.
According to a certain inside leak, the vehicle is already in the advanced stages of design, and we should expect a very sleek machine that combines the general aspect of Jaguar’s saloon cars with the properties of a full fledged SUV. In preparation for this new Jaguar, the car maker reserved two new names, specifically Q-Type and XQ.
The new Jaguar SUV will be using a shortened version of the aluminium XJ platform, and it is set to be built as a main rival to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. Under the hood, we should expect to see four cylinder engines, like a 2.0 liter Si4 turbon engine capable of delivering 240 Hp and the 2.2 liter SD4 diesel unit that is currently on the Range Rover Evoque. The latter is offered exclusively with the 8 speed ZF automatic transmission.
